Moeka Hoshi won the 2025 Critics Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. This was well deserved and one of my favorite characters in the exemplary Shōgun series.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
Astonishingly great on so many fronts. I am surprised it took me so long to get around to this. The gradient blended here between levity and darkness is unmatched. Bonus points for the track and field ruler trick straight out of my childhood arcade memory.
A time-defying walkie-talkie connects 21st-century criminal profiler Park Hae-yeong with spunky detective Lee Jae-han in 1989. Together, they unravel mysteries from the past and present to reshape the future.
Stumbling upon a movie like Lake Mungo can be an intriguing experience. Released in 2008, this film straddles the line between documentary and mockumentary, creating a narrative that challenges our perception of reality and fiction. While it may not cater to those seeking heart-pounding scares, Lake Mungo offers a distinctive, albeit understated, approach to the horror genre that’s worth a closer look.
Hong Ji Hyo’s boyfriend disappears with an unidentified light. Since then, Hong Ji Hyo traces her boyfriend’s whereabouts. With the help of a UFO club members, she approaches a mysterious secret.
This Korean drama is peculiar. It begins with a premise that serves as the protagonists’ driving force, but what ultimately develops is the tale of their journey and the people they encounter along the way. How the people affect and transform one another along the way is less important than the alien abduction. The two main characters have good chemistry, and as usual, a goofy cast of side characters adds comic relief. The tone is intriguing because it can be playful at moments and extremely dark at others. Worthwhile, and if there is a second season, I would watch it.
A high school student dreamed of one day working as an architect. She became a victim of high school violence perpetrated by her fellow students. She dropped out of high school because of the bullying. She then planned revenge on her tormentors and also the bystanders who did nothing.
Bullying in high school is a theme that appears in the majority of Korean dramas. I wonder if the topic is deeply ingrained in the culture because it appears so frequently, but it’s possible that they are more willing to address issues in ways that American media will not.
The abuse itself is less the focus of this tale than is vengeance. The main character meticulously plans her revenge for decades against her tormentors, who have all turned into miserable adults in their own right. Because her targets are so incredibly awful, her actions never appear unjustified. Only those who are close to her abusers earn any sympathy.
After a failed science experiment, a local high school is overrun with zombies, and the trapped students struggle to survive. With no food or water, and communication cut-off by the government, they must use equipment around the school to protect themselves in the midst of a battleground or they will become part of the infected.
Another enjoyable entry in the media’s never-ending zombie apocalypse. It appears to have been a difficult shoot with an excellent cast.

I didn’t intend to talk about my fondness of Korean dramas on this website, but I suppose it won’t hurt to mention for promotional purposes. Additionally, Bae Doona, one of my favorite Korean actors, is in this one. It includes 2 excellent seasons that serve as fine examples of the genre at its best.
“Parametric design is a design method where features (such as building elements and engineering components) are shaped according to algorithmic processes, in contrast to being designed directly. In this method, parameters and rules determine the relationship between design intent and design response. The term parametric refers to input parameters fed into the algorithms.”
Mamamoo members recently covered each other’s solo songs at MY CON; categorize this under “means nothing to those who don’t know and means everything to those who do.” I cannot pick favorites with Mamamoo, but Hwasa singing Eclipse made my day.
The Gombe Chimpanzee War, also known as the Four-Year War, was a violent conflict between two communities of chimpanzees in Gombe Stream National Park in the Kigoma region of Tanzania between 1974 and 1978. The two groups were once unified in the Kasakela community. By 1974, researcher Jane Goodall noticed the community splintering.
“Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.”
